Completion of Agricultural Barn Conversion – Holt, Wiltshire
IPS was instructed by owner of a site in Holt, Wiltshire to assist Ashely Design Associates with a proposal for the conversion of an agricultural barn to a single residential dwelling. This proposal was completed under the prior notification procedure and the application was submitted under Part 3, Class Q of the General Permitted Development Order 2018. Conversions under Class Q allow the change of use of “…a building and any land within its curtilage from a use as an agricultural building to a use falling within Class C3 (dwellinghouses)…”
This proposal consisted of a three-sided barn and the scheme was designed to create a large open plan kitchen/living room, two bedrooms and facilities. The elevation which was not enclosed was replaced with large windows allowing the proposal to maintain the general appearance of an open, three-sided barn.
The proposal was granted approval on the 17th November 2016. IPS are pleased to see the progress with this project and its completion some 18 months following approval.
