IPS Welcomes New Staff Member

IPS is pleased to welcome Steve Bucknell, who joins the team as an Associate of the practice, working part time from our offices in Swindon.

Steve is a General Practice Chartered Surveyor with over 30 years’ experience in commercial property development and agency. Having worked in private practice, operational businesses and development companies, covering a wide range of business types including food stores, care homes and crematoria, Steve understands property development from all angles. After delivering seven assisted homes for Sunrise Senior Living, Steve joined specialist care home builders Castleoak to form their development arm. In eight years Steve built an award winning team which delivered 25 care homes, including the first BREEAM Excellent and the first Passivhaus care homes in the UK. In three years at Westerleigh Steve delivered a string of new sites and planning successes which saw the company grow from 22 to 32 crematoria.

Steve has previously worked with the practice with his role as Development Director at Westerleigh Group, and together with IPS, achieved consent for a number of crematoria across the south of England. The North Wiltshire Crematorium at Royal Wootton Basset, which is now open and serving the community, is an example of a such project.

Outside of work, Steve has been a local councillor (at district and town level) for over 15 years, serving twice as Mayor of Royal Wootton Bassett. This experience enables Steve to see planning issues from the decision-maker’s point of view, greatly assisting in his public consultation work.

Steve brings a practical, client-based approach, with the skills needed to drive project teams and find solutions to problems. We look forward to working with Steve and expanding our offer of services to our existing and new clients.
