Revised Swindon Local Plan Review July 2021 (Regulation 19) Consultation

Swindon Borough Council are currently carrying out a review of the current Local Plan for the Borough of Swindon.

Housing delivery in Swindon is increasingly reliant on large-scale new communities allocated for development in the Local Plan 2026, including the New Eastern Villages and Kingsdown. Due to delays in delivering these strategic sites, there is a residual requirement of housing delivery to be met in the interim and short-term timescales.

The Local Plan was considered by the Swindon Borough Council on 7th July at the Council’s Cabinet meeting. The Revised Local Plan was included with the Cabinet papers and the contents of this latest version of the Plan have been assessed.

The Cabinet concluded to agree the proposed public consultation on the revised Regulation 19 Plan to run for 7 weeks from 29th July 2021 to 16th September 2021.

This is the last round of public consultation before the plan is submitted for examination by the Planning Inspectorate. This consultation looks at the proposed emerging policies and development strategy, arising from previous rounds of consultation and evidence.

If you have development interests within the Swindon area, we strongly recommend submitting representations to the Local Plan consultation. IPS would be happy to assist you, please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss this with us further.
