SHELAA and Call for Sites – Swindon Borough Council
Swindon Borough are currently in the process of developing a New Local Plan. As part of this process, the LPA need to identify a sufficient range of sites to meet housing, employment and other needs over the plan period and next 20 years.
To maintain a clear understanding of land available for development within the Borough, the Council are undertaking a Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA). This high-level land assessment will consider whether land is suitable, available and achievable for housing, employment and other uses over the plan period. The SHELAA is also an important source of evidence which feeds into the council’s five-year housing land supply position and brownfield register.
The LPA have issued a new ‘call for sites’ and there is the opportunity to submit sites for consideration to Swindon Borough for a wide range of land uses, including residential, employment, retail and green infrastructure.
If you have a site within Swindon Borough which you think may be suitable for consideration, please do not hesitate to contact our offices to discuss this with a member of our team. The call for sites process closes on Friday 31st March 2023.
